Ethos Pathos Logos

Pathos is a type of rhetorical involving emotion used commonly in advertisements. The "save a dog" commercial with the sad music and pictures of dogs that get beat up and are underfed are examples of Pathos. The provider will try and grab your attention through strong emotion.

Ethos is ethical appeal. Michael Jordan is on the face of thousands of McDonald's soft drink cups in Chicago and he hasn't played basketball in over a decade. He is a face people look up to in Chicago so people would like to see his face on their soft drink. Apparently this technique works.

Logos is the reason a product is being sold. Why it will work for the consumer and why it is right for them.

There is a presence of rhetorical appeal in House M.D. the Television show because House himself is an intelligent character and people listen to him (Ethos). The people working under him did not follow common procedure when dealing with the patient involved with the M.R.I. resulting in almost fatal repercussions.
Pathos was present when House had pleaded for his position back in the hospital.
Why did the people listen to House?  Because House has a history of solving puzzles in the medical world which was the only reason the people needed to go along with what he had to say (Logos)
