Western Avenue

If I wound up getting bad grades in high school and couldn't sum up a decent ACT score to be accepted to a university, unfortunately I would end up like the other half of my buddies... on Western Avenue. Not the best route. Western Avenue is a street two miles east of my home in Chicago on the 104th block of Avers. "Western" is a popular busy street that hosts around twenty or so bars where young and old go to play on the weekends. If it weren't for college I would possibly take a career route into the Local 399 Heating and Air Conditioning Union if i were lucky to know an individual who could "get me in". I would head to trade school for the next two years and after that my salary would basically plateau for the rest of my life, starting off with around $32 dollars an hour. From then on I would receive something like a $0.50 raise yearly suffering layoffs from such pathetic job security. Ya, I would be making more money than most individuals my age but ten years from now, the friends with college degrees and fancy jobs would be the ones laughing. Western avenue has bars for youngsters and older folk. It has bars that are a cakewalk for a minor to find a drink, and bars that will end your night in the back of a squad car for even attempting to walk through the doors. What suddenly made me want to blog about Western avenue was a text message I received a few minutes ago from my best friend Mike
Mike- "The tile floor in McNally's looks like it took some time".
Me- "Ya i bet. still in the Library getting my degree n stuff".
Mike is a real piece of work and wanted to comment on the job the tile guy worked on via text to me, while the rest of his buddies are soaking up the Chicago Blackhawks' loss and having a great time.
So, that being said, Western Avenue is a good time hear and there but for the most part, someone who finds refuge on the beloved street and becomes a regular, never really finds their way out. I'm happy I have the privilege to leave the South side of Chicago and another state so I can explore my options and stay out out of trouble for the most part. Peace out English class.

Boo Florida.

I began to write my blog about how I changed my major from nursing to computer science, then I became distracted by my buddy Brian talking about the Tampa Bay Rays professional baseball team. Then I realized how much of a better topic it would be to write about how much I dislike the State of Florida. Besides, who honestly cares how indecisive I can be about my future in academics. Old people living Florida is no joke, I have been there twice and those losers are everywhere. Why my parents took me and my siblings to heavens waiting room is beyond me. Then instead of brick housing, their structures are made of a material named stucco. Stucco is a joke and it is stupid because Floridans think it's nice to dye the stucco baby-blue or pink. If you have been to Florida even once you cannot disagree with me on that fact! Now i can roll with Meijer in Michigan and what it stands for. Meijer is a bit different than what we have in Illinois but Floridan's are stuck shopping at some reject supermarket named "Publix" please. My family and I spent some time in Florida with an older man and his spouse who had moved from New York City to Florida for there retirement. The man's accent and dialogue felt so distorted and uncomfortable, I couldn't tell if the man was reading from a prompter or just plain stupid. Florida was a waste of money.

I have met friends from all across the world during fishing trips. Most of them are reaching old age and dying off but I am fine with that, I surround myself with younger folk. I have a Blackberry for work, and a Blackberry for play, its whatever.

P.S. Rumpelstilkin's page may appear a bit "Dry" to others who are not friends with him. Some areas may not be visible like his "About Me" which is posted above this note.

RUMPELSTILSKIN

I decided to choose Rumpelstilskin, by Brother's Grim for my original text because Rumpelstilskin fits the right description of an classic individual to find a mugshot of. I want his face in a mugshot because I decided that I would like my familiar genre to resemble  a link of news coverage from CNN's website. Also, I will use an unfamiliar genre for Rumpelstilskin like an encyclopedia reference that will depict who Rumpelstilskin was.

wkikpedia.com

Rumpelstilskin will have his face in my CNN news coverage link because of his malicious acts towards society for my familiar genre, with the audience being middle class society. The stance of the piece will be not in Rumpelstilskin's favor and the design will be modern age. My unfamiliar genre will be an encyclopedia reference for any individual's interested in the life of Rumpelstilskin himself. The Stance will be informative without much design.

One of my new friends who I spend time with in Chicago is a chunky individual named Jacob Spallina. I recommend everybody who comes across this post to request Jacob on facebook. He went to my grade school at Queen of Martyrs and my High school at Saint Rita. Jacob has lived a city block away from me my entire life but he went unnoticed because he was a younger guy and I am two years older than him. He is one of the funnest people to be around that I know of and is underrated as an person. He also has a loud mouth. Despite Jacob's lumpy physique, he is a smooth talker with the ladies because he knows how to pull the "hockey card". He has been the goalie of Saint Rita's hockey team and Saint Rita tends to win lots of championships so he does well. Jacob Spallina is a true character and he is on his way to my house right now. Everybody should get to know Jake sometime.

My main priority for my final draft is to utilize the writing center. My rough draft was filled with grammatical errors I had subconsciously skimmed by during my proofreading. It was also two pages in length. Adding at least three pages to my rough draft will be my next goal. I can fill those empty spaces with proof of comparisons between texts from the "Jaws" book and movie. I would like to add a minimum of eleven quotes from the book to compare with scenes from the film. My evidence I had provided inside my rough draft simply was two weak for my thesis. More in depth proof will help. I'm hoping the writing center on campus will help my organization skills. The type of format I sometimes use within my paragraphs seem incorrect and unclear at times.

Tim Kramer
Analysis Outline
Jaws: Peter Benchley/Steven Spielberg

Before I read the Novel Jaws by Peter Benchley, I expected the novel to be a whole lot better than the adaptation by Steven Spielberg. Steven Spielberg is a successful and well-known director, who obviously does not mess around with his choice of work. The book truly is a masterpiece. A great amount of detail is placed into the book and the dark toned depictions of the shark’s mind are present and make the novel more horrifying than the mechanical shark on film. The purpose of the film and book is to scare along with entertain. I enjoy the novel more than the book because I believe individuals may not find the movie horrifying but a reader of Benchley’s “Jaws” can take themselves for a ride by working their imagination throughout the reading.

The Purpose of “Jaws” is to scare the audience. The audience can be anybody from a small child, to a concerned father or mother taking their children to the beach. Also the audience can be a Spielberg lover, horror fanatic, fishermen, or anybody else interested in ocean life. The book itself immediately begins with a dark tone, literally a scene so dark the moon isn’t visible. Throughout the story, the shark sets an “on the edge of your seat tone” because Benchley makes the reader believe the shark can strike at anytime. Spielberg being such a popular name in Hollywood, grabs the attention of the media and creates a gory design throughout the film.

If it weren’t for Steven Spielberg there would not be very much credibility involved with the film. He is the reason Ethos is prevalent because the characters chosen for the role simply did not bring any hype although their work ended up magnificent. Pathos is present because Spielberg’s movies are infamous for becoming successful. That being said, odds are the film will be enjoyable according to the consumer. We can see pathos on the front cover of the book and film cover where we see a great white shark the size of a boat showing razor sharp teeth.

I.        Director Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” unsuccessfully recreates Peter Benchley’s original masterpiece novel about an infamous man-eating great white shark.
II.        Scenes throughout the novel depict the great white shark as a creature of the sea and in depth emotions of the beast are put on paper, while the film adaptation depicts the shark as only a headstrong and hungry carnivore.
III.        Yes, the box offices and ratings of the “Jaws” film show an absolute groundbreaking success, but the two story morals do not go hand in hand very well.
